Waking up on your birthday always feels special, but this time, it was extra memorable. Not only was I turning 19 today, but it was also my last day of internship in Dublin. The day started quietly, with everyone getting up around 7 AM, taking their time to get ready before heading to the station at 8 AM for our final day.
At work, I focused on finishing the last bookings and ensuring everything was correctly entered into the system. It was great to see how much faster and more accurate I had become over time. After my supervisor reviewed and approved my work, it felt like the perfect conclusion. This experience really taught me the importance of accuracy and efficiency, definitely a valuable lesson for the future!
But let’s be honest, the real fun started after work. Since it was both my last day in Dublin and my birthday, I wanted to celebrate properly. First, we went back to our host family to pack our suitcases, as the taxis would be picking us up later that night to take us to the airport.
We had planned to meet in the city at 6:30 PM, but, of course, I was running late. At 6 PM, I still had to shower and get ready, so by the time we finally arrived, it was already 7 PM. No big deal, we still had a great time! We all went to Vice Pizza for dinner because, honestly, what better way to celebrate than with pizza? After that, some of our group were exhausted and decided to head home, but that didn’t stop us. We went straight to Temple Bar for one last birthday drink in Dublin.
Unfortunately, the night had to end sooner than we wanted. At 10 PM, we had to return to the host family to make sure everything was ready before the taxi arrived. Just as we were about to leave, our host mom surprised me with a birthday cake! It was such a sweet gesture and the perfect way to wrap up the trip.
When the taxi arrived, we said our goodbyes and headed to the airport. And then… the waiting game began. Our flight wasn’t until 6 AM, so we had hours of trying (and failing) to get comfortable in the airport chairs. But honestly? It was all worth it for such an unforgettable last day in Dublin!
