Today started early. I woke up at 7:30 a.m. and prepared for my internship. I left the house at 8:12 a.m. and arrived around 8:45 a.m., but I still had a short 10-minute walk before reaching the actual workplace. That short walk helped me wake up properly and get mentally ready for the day.
I began working exactly at 9:00 a.m. Just like the days before, my main responsibility was calling companies from a long list of phone numbers. The list contained 550 numbers, and my objective was to collect as much relevant information as possible.
During every phone call, I introduced myself and explained that I work for Easy Property Maintenance, a company that provides maintenance services. I asked whether the company already worked with a maintenance provider. Even when they already had one, I still tried to obtain an email address so that we could contact them in the future if needed. I also asked for the name and email address of the person responsible for maintenance in the building.
It was quite a demanding task. Calling 550 numbers requires a lot of concentration and patience. By 3:30 p.m., I had finally finished the entire list, which felt like a big achievement after such a long and repetitive job.
After completing the calls, I moved on to some administrative work. From 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., I organized and checked all the information I had collected. I made sure that the names were written correctly, the email addresses were accurate, and that everything was properly documented. This part of the work was calmer, but it was still very important to avoid errors.
Although the work is repetitive and sometimes exhausting, I noticed that my English has improved. Speaking on the phone so often helped me become more confident when communicating. However, I still feel that I am learning less about informatics, which was one of the main reasons I chose this internship. I hope I will be able to focus more on that aspect later on.
After finishing work at 4:00 p.m., I went home and relaxed for a while with Kiet. Later in the evening, we went to the city and visited Temple Bar. Kiet had invited a colleague as well, and we spent some time there enjoying a drink together. Because the first bus back only left after midnight, we eventually returned home around 4:00 a.m.
Overall, it was a long but productive day.
