A lot of emotions on the last day

Here we go again, for the last time.

Today I woke up feeling excited because it was our final day. I got ready, put on my uniform, and we left for the bus stop. Unfortunately, our 7:25 bus didn’t show up, so we had to take a later one. Because of that I arrived a little late, but luckily it wasn’t too bad.

I did my work as usual, but since it was the last day I decided to do something different for lunch. I let the cook choose what I would eat. He made me a delicious salad, which I enjoyed with the other intern I had been working with.

After lunch it was time to say goodbye to Wayne, the cook. I will really miss him, and he told me he will miss me too. We hugged, and then it was time for me to leave. At 1:30 pm we went to get our documents signed, and just like that… it was over. The internship had come to an end. We said our goodbyes, hugged, and even received some souvenirs from the hotel.

That was the moment when it really started to feel real. My friend Sophia started crying, which made me emotional as well. We talked for a while until it was time for everyone to go their separate ways. Later, I went home with Mirabela for the meeting. At 4 pm we started getting ready to go out one last time. At 5 pm we took the bus to the city center and, after sitting on the bus for about an hour, we finally arrived.

We went out to eat with some friends. After nearly two hours of eating and talking, we went to their house to get ready. At 10 pm we were back in the city to meet more friends.

Soon there were ten of us sitting on a bench just talking. During those two hours we got to know each other even better, and we even managed to get kicked out of a pub.

Around midnight we went back to the city center, singing and talking along the way. Some of us needed to use the bathroom, so we went into another pub and ended up staying there for a while.

At 2:30 am we still weren’t tired, so we started looking for an afterparty. Luckily we found one. By the time we got there only two of us were still together, but that actually gave us the chance to meet some new people.

At 7 am the lights suddenly turned on, which was a pretty sad moment because it meant the night was over. It was time to go home and pack our suitcases.

On the way home I fell asleep on the bus, but luckily I woke up at the right stop. At 8:20 am I arrived home, packed my suitcase, and quickly fell asleep again.

At 10 am it was time for another goodbye this time with our host family, who we will miss a lot. We had a 20-minute drive to the airport, and I spent the ride singing with the driver.

I was happy to be going home, but at the same time I didn’t want to leave Dublin behind.

And just like that, this chapter came to an end.

Thank you for reading my journey. Dublin, we will see each other again very soon.
