Day 2 - February 18th 2025

I was awoken from my slumber by my vertically long fellow. I showered, ate and left for the bus. I arrived about 2 hours later at my workplace, Gadgetmaster. I felt pretty excited because this was my first workday in Dublin, Ireland. My new boss, who referred to me as “boss”, gave me a quick tour of the workplace. He is a fast talker, but a welcoming person. I was told to wait for my colleague, another intern whose name I will not share for privacy reasons. He explained how everything worked, and where everything was stored.

The workplace was a little messy, as they were in the middle of moving and organizing everything. But I liked the place since it looked like there was a lot to do. I had my own place, a shared corner where my coworker and I worked. At first I thought it was going to be pretty boring, because the place is located in Crumlin village, which is in the middle of nowhere. But there were a good amount of customers, locals and people who came looking for this specific store. There was even an angry Irish customer, which was funny to hear since you could barely understand him.

My first task was to help out with the moving and organizing. I helped put stuff in and out of boxes. I was shown how the pc at the front worked, and how I could put in the customer information, and what their problem was/ what they bought. Since there wasn’t a lot to do in the morning. I was tasked with disassembling a phone, and reassembling it. Over the course of my workday, I did this with three old phones. Three different ones so I could understand and learn how they were built. The Iphone was the hardest to work with, as they are known for being repair-unfriendly. The Huawei and Samsung were easy and quick and took less time combined than the Iphone. Around 1 PM, an elderly man entered the store and said he wanted a new phone, and if we could transfer all data, apps etc on the new one. I helped do this and I also downloaded office and windows 10 on an older computer. I talked to customers and collected their information. It was pretty busy today.

I have increased my ability to (dis)assemble electronic devices and gained some knowledge on the topic of phone storage. I find my job pretty interesting and fun, since its not the same and there isroom for relaxation here and there. Overall, my first day was productive and enjoyable.
