Hello everyone!
Today was another busy day in Dublin. I woke up feeling quite hungry, so I went straight to eat breakfast. Since I had a sore throat, I also boiled some water because it helps soothe the pain. After eating, I got dressed and left with Ilias for work. We walked about 15 minutes to the metro station. Luckily, my internship is not too far, so I don’t have to sit on the tram for too long—just around 20 minutes. After that, I have to walk another 15 minutes to reach my workplace. I arrived at 8:45 AM and started working.
Unfortunately, my laptop is very slow, which makes my work difficult. I have been working on the same task for three days now, even though it should normally take only a few hours. Because of the laptop, everything takes much longer than it should. I am not the only intern here—there is another student named Denniz from Germany. He is 19 years old. I don’t have much contact with the other colleagues, and I rarely see my boss.
For my job, I have to search for customers on LinkedIn and check if they found a job thanks to our company. Most of the time, the answer is no. The office is always very loud because everyone is constantly making phone calls to clients—there are seven people calling at the same time! You can imagine how noisy it gets.
I worked until 1 PM and then had a one-hour lunch break. I went to The Square, a shopping center near my workplace, and bought shortbread cookies for 80 cents. I had been sneezing and coughing all day, so I had to go to the toilet every 10 minutes to blow my nose. I also drank a lot of water to keep my throat from getting worse.
After lunch, I worked hard and managed to add many clients to the system. When work ended, I went straight home to get ready for the football match. We were going to watch Shamrock Rovers FC play against Molde, a team from Norway. Just as I was preparing to leave, our host called us for dinner—it was fish and chips with lemon and peas. As always, the food was delicious.
After eating, we had to rush to catch the bus. We walked for five minutes and took the bus for about ten minutes. Suddenly, the bus stopped, and the driver said, “My tire is flat.” We got out and saw that the tire had completely come off. Luckily, he noticed it just in time. We quickly walked to another bus stop and finally made it to the stadium at 7:30 PM. The match was scheduled to start at 8 PM, and the stadium was completely full.
We sat behind the goal, and the game started. Molde quickly scored, making it 0-1. Since Shamrock Rovers had won the first match, the total score was now 1-1. Both teams had many chances, but there were no more goals until the 90th minute. This meant the match went into extra time. Nothing significant happened during extra time, so it all came down to penalties. Both teams took excellent shots, but in the end, Molde won. That meant Shamrock Rovers were eliminated from the Conference League.
Because the match ended so late, everyone left the stadium at the same time, causing a lot of traffic and delays with buses. We decided to take the tram instead, but we didn’t get home until 12:30 AM. As soon as we arrived, we went straight to bed because we were completely exhausted.
Overall, it was a long but exciting day with lots of things happening. Even though Shamrock Rovers lost, I really enjoyed the experience of watching a live football match in Dublin.
See you in the next blog!
