Day 4 – Februari 20th 2025

Today I was woken up by the sound of my altitudinous roommate. I went downstairs after getting dressed, and ate two bowls of cornflakes. I also took an extremely cold shower (I didn’t choose this, the water just didn’t get warm for some reason). After this I just waited around until it was time for me to leave.

I arrived at the town of Blackrock about an hour too early. I used this time to explore around a bit. When I got tired of this, I opened up the FixIt store with the key I was given. And thus began my day.

Like usual, I started my workday by sweeping the floor. I also took the items I got yesterday out of my bag and put them in the correct spot. The first customer of the day, who entered while I was sweeping the floor, was an old lady whose phone screen had cracked. I told her that it was possible to fix, and that she should come back in an hour or two. (my supervisor had arrived by then). After she left, we came to the realization that we did, in fact, not have her exact model of screen available. Thus, I was sent on my first side quest of the day. I had to go to the town of Merrion to retrieve the correct screen model. I returned to Blackrock after receiving it.

The second customer was a man whose laptop was broken due to the fact that his wife drenched it in water. Upon inspecting it we came to the conclusion that the damage was manageable. It would still take a while to fix it though, which wasn’t good news for the customer, since he had to attend an online meeting. Thus, we decided to lend him a laptop for a few hours. This was a bad decision on our part, since now we had to find a functioning laptop in the store. While I was testing the first laptop to see if it would work, it suddenly bluescreened and died on me. The second one went a bit better, until it bricked for no apparent reason. I tried repairing it for THREE. HOURS. But it didn’t work. If not for the spicy mapo tofu I ate during my delayed break after this, I would’ve gone insane.

I spent the rest of the day taking stock, rearranging some items, and helping some customers. My last task of the day was delivering and fetching some items. I hastily made my way to Merrion via the train, and handed over the items that I needed to give to them. I saw my teacher there too, quite an amusing coincidence.
After this, I went to the second spot. This is the Chinese shop in the centre of Dublin that I’ve been going to in the previous few days too. Normally, I just hand over the items and paper slips containing the requests, after which they go downstairs to show the paper slips to some mysterious guy, and then get the items I need. But this time, they allowed me to go behind the counter and go down into the basement to meet the guy in person. The basement level looked like some kind of extremely long corridor with shelves stocked with items, and two benches with guys working on motherboards with really expensive-looking tools. I did some talking, and then left the store with some items that I'd have to bring with me to FixIt tomorrow.

Sometime later, I returned to the humble abode I reside in. I consumed a ludicrous amount of Dr Pepper. And then we arrive at the current moment I am writing this very text.
