The day started at 6:45 when my alarm brutally pulled me out of my sleep. With slight reluctance, I got up and immediately woke my roommates, because we all know how easy it is to snooze for “just five more minutes” and end up being late. Around 7:00, I decided to have breakfast, as a good breakfast is essential for starting the day with energy.

Before heading to the bus stop, I made a quick detour to Insomnia Coffee, because I simply don’t function without caffeine. With a steaming cup of coffee in hand, I stood at the bus stop at 7:30, ready to catch the bus. We made a short stop at Louis and Matteo’s stop, as the three of us work at AI Ireland and commute together.

Around 9:00, we arrived at the Guinness Enterprise Centre, where our supervisor, Mark Kelly, was already waiting for us. He guided us to our workspace, and we got straight to work. Now, I’d love to tell you all about the secret projects we’re working on, but unfortunately, I can’t—Mark Kelly has made it clear that everything is strictly confidential. Still, I’ll try to explain it as vaguely as possible, so that it’s not exactly Rocket Science to understand what we do.

Our first task of the day was analyzing websites of well-known AI experts. We examined which elements worked well and how they made their content engaging. After that, Matteo, Louis, and I continued building the websites we needed to develop in HTML and CSS. Initially, we were supposed to work in WordPress, but due to a persistent system error, we could hardly make any adjustments. That led to some frustration, but we made the best of it.

At 17:00, we closed our laptops and took the bus back home. After a long workday, I felt like a squeezed lemon, but luckily, a hearty meal was waiting for me at home. At 18:15, I arrived at my host family’s house, where we enjoyed a typically filling meal together: potatoes with sausage and beans. Not exactly haute cuisine, but after a long day, it tasted amazing. During dinner, we had an interesting discussion about Irish Wildlife, from bold seagulls to curious foxes sneaking through the streets at night.

Later in the evening, I headed to the city center with a group of friends for a drink. On the way, we passed a garage where a few men were busy changing Autobanden. The sound of a roaring compressor and spinning wrenches filled the street as we cheerfully continued to our destination.

We found a cozy pub and enjoyed a few drinks and good conversations. Unfortunately, I had to cut the night short compared to the rest, as I had agreed to be home by 23:00. At 22:30, I ordered an Uber, which dropped me off right on time. Once home, I decided to write this blog.
