Today started early. I got up at 7:30 a.m. and got ready for my internship. I left for work at 8:12 a.m. and arrived around 8:45 a.m., but I still had a short 10-minute walk to reach the actual internship location. That little walk gave me a moment to wake up fully and mentally prepare for the day ahead.
I started working at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Like the previous days, my main task was calling companies from a long list of phone numbers. The list contained 550 numbers, and my goal was to gather as much useful information as possible.
During each call, I introduced myself, explaining that I work for Easy Property Maintenance, a maintenance company. I asked whether the company already had a maintenance provider. Even if they did, I still tried to get an email address so that we could reach out in the future. I also asked for the name and email of the person responsible for maintenance in the building.
It was an intensive task. Calling 550 numbers requires a lot of focus and patience. By 3:30 p.m., I had completed the entire list—a huge relief after such a long and repetitive task.
After finishing the calls, I focused on administrative work. From 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., I organized and double-checked all the collected information, making sure names were spelled correctly, email addresses were accurate, and everything was neatly recorded. It was calmer work, but just as important to avoid mistakes.
Even though the job is repetitive and sometimes tiring, I noticed that my English improved. Constantly speaking on the phone helped me gain more confidence. On the other hand, I still feel I’m learning less about informatics, which was one of the main reasons I chose this internship—something I hope to work on in the future.
After finishing at 4:00 p.m., I went home and relaxed a bit with Kiet. Later, we headed into the city to grab something to drink at Tesco. Kiet had invited a colleague as well, and we enjoyed a drink together. Since the first bus back only ran after midnight, we ended up returning home around 4:00 a.m.
Overall, it was a long but productive Friday. Despite feeling exhausted, I’m proud to have completed the full list of 550 calls.
